Just replaced my compressor and didn't have to remove the shroud or the fan. It's tight but can be done. The clutch can easily come off with the compressor still in the truck. The whole pulley assembly would be a pain in the ass. I would just pull it out. It took me a little over 2 hours to pull mine and swap it out.
